GrubTrucks Gets a Major Update — New Admin Panel, Redesigned Profiles, and a Polished UI
What’s New in GrubTrucks
At WebDMG, we’ve been heads-down building out the next generation of GrubTrucks — the food truck discovery platform that connects
hungry customers with the best mobile kitchens in their area. This release is a big one. Here’s a look at everything that dropped.
Owner Admin Panel
The headline feature of this update is a brand-new owner-facing admin panel — a dedicated space where food truck owners can log in
and manage everything about their truck in one place.
When an owner signs in, they land on the Admin Dashboard: a clean grid of their trucks, each showing a photo, active/published status
badges, and a direct link to manage that truck. No more digging through a database or contacting support to make a change.
From the Truck Admin page, owners can manage three key areas through a tabbed interface:
– Truck Info — Update the truck’s name, description, cover photo, and all social media links (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, and
YouTube) in a single form.
– Menu — Add, edit, and remove menu items organized by category: Entrees, Desserts, Drinks, and Extras. Each item supports a name,
description, and price.
– Schedule — Set the truck’s operating locations and hours using integrated Google Places Autocomplete, so location data is accurate
and consistent.
Access to the admin area is protected by Firebase Authentication, with a dedicated login screen and a ProtectedRoute component that
redirects unauthenticated users away from admin pages.
Redesigned Food Truck Profile Pages
The public-facing food truck profile got a significant redesign. The goal: give customers a cleaner, more scannable view of a truck’s
full story.
The new profile layout features:
– A hero image at the top to make the visual identity of each truck front and center
– Tabbed menu navigation that lets visitors browse Entrees, Desserts, Drinks, and Extras without the page feeling overwhelming
– Social media links surfaced prominently so fans can follow their favorite trucks directly from their profile
– Cleaner overall structure with improved spacing and typography
The rewrite also significantly reduced the complexity of the component — cutting nearly 300 lines of code while delivering a better
result.
UI Polish Across the App
Alongside the big-ticket features, this release includes a round of UI fixes across the landing page and the truck owners page.
Layout inconsistencies were resolved, CSS was streamlined (removing ~220 lines of redundant styles), and both pages now feel more
cohesive on mobile and desktop.
A new Footer component was also added globally, giving every page a consistent bottom section.
What’s Next
The foundation is now in place for food truck owners to self-manage their presence on GrubTrucks end-to-end. Upcoming work will build
on top of this — think richer schedule displays for customers, improved search, and more ways for owners to engage with their
audience.
Stay tuned, and if you’re a food truck owner who wants to get listed, now is a great time to reach out.
