ImPowerful Girl Conference

ImPowerful Girl Conference

WEBDMG was invited to be a participant at the ImPOWERful Girls Conference. Created by SHE’ Matters G.I.R.L.S, INC and held this year at the Boys & Girls Club of America in Virginia Beach, VA, the ImPOWERful Girls Conference was a one-day conference designed to empower girls and young women to initiate personal and social change, enhance self-awareness and to select healthier options as well as to provide effective strategies for greater leadership development.

We jumped at the opportunity to speak to and interact with the young girls that would be attending. We always want to give back to the community and help young people discover the joys of app creation as well as exposing them to all of the different skill sets that are required and teamwork needed to produce an app.

After speaking about what we at WEBDMG are passionate about and the different roles needed to build apps, we split the girls into teams of two and their goal was to conceive an app idea. We asked them to create an original app and provide us with an app name and key features. Then the girls gave a short sales pitch to the room explaining their idea and fielded questions from their peers.

The ideas these young girls came up with after only 40 minutes were outstanding. They really worked with their partners to come up with solid ideas for apps and each team presented their app to their peers with ease while receiving the utmost respect from those in the room.

After reviewing each of the app ideas, WEBDMG awarded two teams with awards. These teams demonstrated a clarity of idea paired with a great presentation and solidified their success with an app icon and three screens mocks of their app.

WEBDMG would like to thank SHE’ Matters G.I.R.L.S, INC for putting on this conference and Boys & Girls Club of America in Virginia Beach, VA for hosting. We definitely had a amazing time pouring into the future app developers.
